BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In 2023, the BNAA commenced the BoorYul-Bah-Bilya (BBB) program, a new initiative to address declining river health through creation of a new type of community catchment plan. The initiative aims to balance the many environmental, cultural, social and economic values of rivers. The first BBB plan focuses on the Mandoon Bilya (Helena River) however, BNAA hope to have far-reaching impacts by creating a transferable process that can be applied to any river. The plan is being developed in three stages in the lead up to the 2029 Perth Bicentenary, a major program milestone, and work is currently progressing on the Stage 1 Cultural Mapping, Conservation Audi and Access Audit.
